Beauty products are the name of the game this week! A couple of weeks ago, I discussed my daily nighttime skincare routine, all featuring products that are under $20 a pop. Today, I am going to delve back into some great makeup purchases that are also very affordable and provide excellent quality. From primer to lash glue, I’ve got you covered! I absolutely love that my makeup bag currently consists of very affordable products that will give you an amazing beat! Here are a few products that you need to have in your makeup bag:
If there is one product that I am loyal to a fault to, it is Loreal’s Voluminous Mascara. You can grab this baby for about $6 at your local drugstore, and if you want a nice chunky look, I recommend the “Blackest Black” shade. Your natural lashes will be full of volume, and the mascara can still challenge any of its expensive competitors. Try it if you haven’t, I promise you’ll become a loyal customer!
One word: Smashbox. This is probably the most expensive item on here that I am recommending, but it is one of the best primers, if not THE best primer that I have ever used! The primer feels a little heavy at first, but actually applies very light and gives great coverage, which means you only need a very small amount to use every day. You will definitely notice a difference with this primer. If you’re on a budget, try the travel size primer, which is available on Amazon for $16. Not bad!
Let’s Talk Foundation
Currently, I am using Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Foundation. It’s a great full coverage foundation, and also only requires a small amount to give you what you need. I have had my current foundation for almost four months, which is double the amount of time that I have my drugstore foundation before it starts to run out. It’s a little pricey at $42, but it’s a good buy if you’re looking for a lightweight, full-coverage foundation.
If you need a more affordable option, you can almost bet on Maybelline’s Fit Me foundation. This is by far one of the best foundations that I have found available in store, and what’s even better is that they have a type for dry and oily skin. If you have combination skin like I do, go for the Matte foundation that deals with oily skin. There’s nothing worse than a greasy T-zone! The foundation is less than $10 per bottle, and is available at pretty much any grocery or convenience store. You won’t regret this purchase at all!
Both of these foundations are liquid, so you’ll want to be sure to have a good foundation brush for application. I tend to stay away from sponges because I noticed that they soak up much of what you use, and we don’t have time for wasted foundation! A great foundation brush will give you smooth coverage, and a clean brush is always a better option over your fingers.
After many years of avoiding fake lashes altogether, I am finally enjoying wearing lashes for event outings and blog shoots. Knowing how to apply your lashes is just half the battle: having a great lash glue is essential to maintaining your look all day. This lash glue is very affordable at $6 and will last a very long time! The glue also dries fairly quickly, which will give your eyes a great, invisible adhesive.
While the shade of blush is totally dependent upon your skin tone, there are a few great brands out there with affordable, good blush. My regular, every day is NYX’s blush, and it does the job pretty well for me! NYX has exploded in popularity in the past couple of years because of their affordability, and I have already started to see NYX stores across the country popping up! If you’re looking for new blush, check out this line.
I’ll be following up soon with additional product options for your makeup bag, but with these items I listed, you’re definitely on your way to a great product combination! What’s your fav product in your makeup bag? Comment below, would love to hear your recommendations!
